Counselling explained

What You Need to Know

Since day one, I have been fascinated with the mind, how we behave and how we relate. I give my clients a relationship that will help them thrive and grow.

Counselling is a talking therapy. Talking therapy helps by giving you time and space to talk to a therapist in an open way. You may not be able to talk like this with friends or family. Through talking you can reduce and combat the issues that are making your life hard.

You'll hear other terms: Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis, CBT, Mindfulness. These are all used to describe ways of communicating with yourself and others to try and feel better. I follow an Integrative model of therapy. This means I integrate or bring together different schools of therapy to meet your needs. This includes psychodynamic, person centred and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I'll use different techniques to suit you and your issue. This short video from a Psychotherapy provider is close to how I work.
